After two games on the road, Middle Creek is heading back home. They will take on the Apex Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Tuesday, Middle Creek came up short against Cary and fell 47-39.
Despite their loss, Middle Creek saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Obataobie Okafor, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Yasir Hall, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Apex also suffered a loss in their last game, but this one to Apex Friendship by a score of 55-47. While losing is never fun, Apex can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 415th, while Apex Friendship is ranked 92nd).
Middle Creek dropped their record down to 10-11 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Apex, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost 11 of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season.
Everything went Middle Creek's way against Apex in their previous meeting back in January as Middle Creek made off with a 66-43 victory. Will Middle Creek repeat their success, or does Apex have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
