The Harding University Rams came into Thursday's contest having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They slipped by Berry 46-45 on Thursday. The win was just what Harding University needed coming off of a 83-17 defeat in their prior match.
When it comes to explaining why Berry lost, one person who can't be blamed is Zahnia Long. Despite the final result, she scored 29 points along with six rebounds and four steals. That was a full 64.4% of Berry's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Parker Breelove, who scored nine points.
Harding University's win ended a 16-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-15. As for Berry, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-16.
Harding University didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 61-57 defeat vs. West Charlotte on the 9th. Berry will head out on the road to square off against Myers Park at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Myers Parkpresents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Berry in North Carolina (Myers Park is ranked ninth, while Berry is ranked 439th).
