Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bradford). They put the hurt on the Preble Shawnee Arrows with a sharp 19-7 win on Tuesday. The Railroaders haven't had any issues with the Arrows recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Vivian Harlemen made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off seven hits. Harlemen was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Bradford got a massive performance out of Hayven Evans, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Lilly Canan, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Bradford always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. They are 5-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Bradford's win bumped their record up to 8-10. As for Preble Shawnee, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bradford will square off against Arcanum at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Trojans will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Railroaders surely won't give up without a fight. As for Preble Shawnee, they will face off against Troy Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
