The Benjamin Mustangs put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 56-8 victory over Crowell on the road. Fans of Benjamin have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season ended as a blowout.
Grayson Rigdon was a one-man wrecking crew for Benjamin as he rushed for 160 yards and four touchdowns on only eight carries, and also picked up 76 receiving yards. Rigdon has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Keegan Hayes, who threw for 84 yards and three touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes.
Benjamin's victory was their seventh straight on the road (dating back to last season), which pushed their record up to 10-0. As for Crowell, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-2.
Benjamin will take on Motley County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Motley County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 52nd, while Benjamin is ranked third). As for Crowell, they will head out on the road to face off against Jayton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Jayton knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine matchups -- so hopefully Crowell likes a good challenge.
