New Prairie had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They walked away with a 7-4 win over the South Bend Saint Joseph Huskies on Monday. The victory was nothing new for the Cougars as they're now sitting on nine straight.
Beau Kmiecik made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Jordan Davis was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Reed Robinson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
New Prairie's record now sits at 21-9. As for South Bend Saint Joseph, they moved to 24-7 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
