The Holmes Aces will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against the Pasquotank County Panthers at 5:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Pasquotank County will be up against a hot Holmes squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. Holmes came out on top against Heritage by a score of 10-7 on Saturday. While the Aces didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

03/21/25 @ Northeastern | 2 |
03/06/25 @ North Pitt | 2 |
04/29/24 @ Hertford County | 2 |
04/25/24 @ Camden County | 2 |
The team relied heavily on Myles Cobb, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Daniel Hare was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Pasquotank County and Hertford County meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. Pasquotank County put the hurt on Hertford County with a sharp 17-4 win. The Panthers have beaten the Bears the last eight times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Bears has come to flipping the script.
Tyler Bundy was excellent, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He also put up an RBI, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Tyshawn Spencer, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Pasquotank County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .585. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Holmes pushed their record up to 8-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Pasquotank County, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.
Pasquotank County's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Holmes hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .317. It's a different story for Pasquotank County, though, as they've only averaged .244. Will they be able to contain Holmes' hitters?
Holmes came up short against Pasquotank County when the teams last played back in March of 2024, falling 6-2. Can Holmes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
