The Antioch Sequoits are taking a road trip to face off against the Wilmot Panthers at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Antioch is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
The home team had won the previous two meetings between Antioch and Grant Community, and Antioch kept the tradition alive. The Sequoits skirted past the Bulldogs 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Sequoits have posted against the Bulldogs since May 4, 2023.

Antioch got a great performance from Carson Young as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over 6.2 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Young has posted since April 1st.
At the plate, Evan Schmidt was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Nathan Yeager, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Wilmot didn't have quite enough to beat Union Grove on Thursday and fell 2-1. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Chance Ruby put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple and one run.
Ruby wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Preston Jones, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.
Antioch is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Wilmot, the loss was their first at home , dropping their record down to 5-5.
Wilmot's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Antioch hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .323. It's a different story for Wilmot, though, as they've only averaged .251. Will they be able to contain Antioch's hitters?
Antioch skirted past Wilmot 5-4 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Sequoits since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
