Even though the Covington-Douglas Wildcats scored an imposing 56 points on Friday, the Waukomis Chiefs still came out on top. Waukomis walked away with a 67-56 win over Covington-Douglas. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Waukomis.
Despite the loss, Covington-Douglas still got an impressive performance from Derrek Daugherty, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 19 rebounds. Daugherty scored a full 44.6% of Covington-Douglas' points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Ford Smith, who scored 9 points along with 9 rebounds.
Waukomis' win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Covington-Douglas, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
Waukomis will head out on the road to face off against Coyle at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Covington-Douglas, they will be playing at home against Dover at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
