Liberty Common has gone a perfect 4-0 against Weld Central recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Eagles will face off against the Rebels at 5:00 p.m. Liberty Common is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.
Liberty Common's last matchup with Resurrection Christian could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Thursday. The Eagles came up short against the Cougars, falling 10-0. The game marked the first time this year in which the Eagles were not able to get on the board.
Meanwhile, Weld Central made easy work of Brush on Thursday and carried off a 23-8 win. The Rebels might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by ten runs or more this season.
Weld Central got a massive performance out of Pierce Thoene, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. What's more, Thoene posted two stolen bases, the most he's had since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Dinges, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Weld Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .692. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Liberty Common moved to 8-6 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Weld Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Liberty Common has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Weld Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Liberty Common was able to grind out a solid victory over Weld Central in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, winning 9-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
