Basketball Recap: Happy Camp Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

Happy Camp won against Tulelake last Saturday with 64 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Tuesday. The Happy Camp Indians were the clear victor by a 64-42 margin over the Surprise Valley Hornets. With that victory, the Indians brought their scoring average up to 50.1 points per game.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Happy Camp to victory, but perhaps none more so than Byron Roberts, who went 8 for 10 on his way to 18 points in addition to five assists and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jean Wright, who went 7 of 11 on his way to 16 points in addition to seven assists and six boards.

Roberts wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Happy Camp was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since the start of last season.

Despite the loss, Surprise Valley still got an impressive performance from Casey Grove, who went 7 for 15 on his way to 21 points. That was a full 50% of Surprise Valley's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Eichstadt, who had ten points.

Happy Camp pushed their record up to 5-4 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.9 points per game. As for Surprise Valley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Happy Camp didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 65-38 victory against Dunsmuir on the 20th. As for Surprise Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 73-30 defeat against Plumas Charter on the 20th.
