Verrado typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Canyon View proved too difficult a challenge. They blew past the Vipers 11-1. Canyon View's win was all the more impressive since the Vipers were averaging only 4.08 runs allowed on the season.
Audrie Castaneda tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Canyon View got a massive performance out of Ameliana Mendez, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs. Another player making a difference was Bella Mora, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs.
Buckeye's record now sits at 15-5. As for Canyon View, their record is now 19-6.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Buckeye hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .427. However, it's not like Canyon View struggles in that department as they've averaged .459. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Buckeye might still be hurting after the 8-0 defeat they got from Canyon View when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Can the Hawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
