Sophia Galvez put in work while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Galvez was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played.
Galvez wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Madison Pacheco, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Another was Izabella Sanchez, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
Somerset now has a losing record of 10-11. As for Pearsall, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-9-1 record this season.
Coincidentally, Somerset and Pearsall will both be playing Floresville the next time they take the field. The Bulldogs will host the Tigers/Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Mavericks will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
