In what's become a running theme this season, the Mount Desert Island Trojans gave their fans yet another huge victory on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Foxcroft Academy with a sharp 57-34 victory. Given Mount Desert Island's advantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while Foxcroft Academy is ranked 93rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Several Ponies players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Addison Conklin, who scored nine points along with six rebounds. Conklin continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Addie Day, who scored two points along with six steals.
Even though they lost, Foxcroft Academy were working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Mount Desert Island has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for Foxcroft Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.
Mount Desert Island will play host again and welcome Hermon, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Foxcroft Academy, they will head out on the road to square off against Ellsworth at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Ellsworth will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.
