Softball Recap: Southern Has No Trouble Against East

Southern came into Wednesday's contest having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. Everything went their way against East on Wednesday as they made off with a 14-1 win. The Indians not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 16th (when they won 24-7).

The team relied heavily on Kennedy Lewis, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was her first of the season. Gianna Pecorelli was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Southern always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .607. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Southern's victory bumped their record up to 7-9. As for East, they are on a 21-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-13.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southern will challenge Chaney at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for East, they will face off against Bristol at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.63 runs per game on average), something East will no doubt try to take advantage of.
