While losing is never fun, Valley Vista can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 141st, while Cactus Shadows is ranked 24th).
Valley Vista's loss came despite strong showings from Trevor Currington and Javani Jones. Currington scored 10 points along with 5 assists and 5 rebounds, while Jones scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Jamani Moody, who scored 2 points along with 4 steals.
Valley Vista now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Cactus Shadows, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-1.
Valley Vista will be playing at home against Millennium at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Cactus Shadows, they will head out on the road to face off against Independence at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
