It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the D.C. Everest Evergreens ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They managed a 61-57 win over Wausau West. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brett Butalla, who scored 15 points along with five assists. Butalla has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Lucas Hager, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
D.C. Everest is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 8-14 record this season. As for Wausau West, their loss dropped their record down to 13-7.
D.C. Everest will take on Wisconsin Dells at 5:50 p.m. on Saturday. As for Wausau West, they will head out on the road to challenge Wausau East at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wausau East knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten matchups -- so hopefully Wausau West likes a good challenge.
