The Cotulla Cowboys's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their eighth straight loss. They were beaten by Crystal City 100-57. Cotulla has not had much luck with Crystal City recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Crystal City got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Eli Mata out in front who scored 20 points along with eight steals and seven rebounds. Mata is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Christopher Mena, who scored 23 points along with six assists and six rebounds.
Cotulla has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost ten of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-15 record this season. As for Crystal City, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 15-11.
Cotulla will look to defend their home court on Friday against Dilley at 7:30 p.m. Dilley is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for Crystal City, they will head out on the road to challenge Lytle at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Lytle is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 60.5 points per game.
