The Westhope/Newburg Sioux posted their closest win yet this season on Thursday. They had just enough and edged Harvey out 47-45. The win made it back-to-back wins for Westhope/Newburg.
Westhope/Newburg's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kimberly Tabarez led the charge by scoring 18 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals. Tabarez is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Laken Lee, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Westhope/Newburg's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-11. As for Harvey, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10-1 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Westhope/Newburg will challenge Dunseith at 5:45 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Dakota (Dunseith is ranked 81st, while Westhope/Newburg is ranked 92nd). Harvey will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Carrington at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd.
