This season hasn't been kind to the Southbridge Pioneers, who are still winless after their eighth match. They had to suffer through a rough 56-20 loss at the hands of Blackstone-Millville. Southbridge was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 27-6.
Leading Blackstone-Millville to victory were Natalia Morais and Marren Berry. Morais scored 14 points, while Berry scored 17 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Berry has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Izzie Gaudette, who scored five points.
Southbridge bumped their record down to 0-8 with that defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 15.3 points per game. As for Blackstone-Millville, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southbridge will take on Keefe Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Blackstone-Millville won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Sutton at 6:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Sutton is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
