The Columbus Cardinals's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a 49-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Edna. Columbus was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Edna apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
When it comes to explaining why Columbus lost, one person who can't be blamed is Karlee Mathis. Despite the final result, she scored 12 points along with 4 steals. Another player making a difference was Sage Thomas, who scored 6 points along with 5 rebounds.
Columbus' defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Edna, the victory was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-3.
Columbus will square off against Smithville at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. Smithville is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 58 points per game. Edna will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against George West at 4:30 p.m. on December 7th. George West will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
