Basketball Game Preview: Cannon Cougars vs. Charlotte Country Day School Buccaneers

Cannon has gone 9-1 against Charlotte Country Day School recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Cannon Cougars will head out to face off against the Charlotte Country Day School Buccaneers at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Cannon's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

Last Tuesday, Cannon didn't have quite enough to beat Charlotte Latin and fell 75-72. While the Cougars didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Hawks 22-11 in the first quarter.

Cannon's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Sean Nix, who went 11 for 16 en route to 30 points and eight boards, and Evan Ingram, who went 7 of 13 on his way to 23 points and six rebounds. The game was Nix's tenth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Baker, who posted nine points and eight assists.

Meanwhile, Charlotte Country Day School ended up a good deal behind Providence Day on Tuesday and lost 74-56. While losing is never fun, the Buccaneers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while the Chargers are ranked fourth).

Despite the loss, Charlotte Country Day School saw an underclassman step up: freshman Davonta Dj Lindsey went 7 for 12 on his way to 23 points. Another player making a difference was Nick Diaz, who put up 13 points.

Charlotte Country Day School's defeat dropped their record down to 14-11. As for Cannon, their loss dropped their record down to 11-10.

Cannon couldn't quite finish off Charlotte Country Day School in their previous matchup on Friday and fell 82-80. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Dj Lindsey, who went 9 of 13 en route to 25 points and four steals.
