West Central recap Oct. 30, 2012
Center extended the longest winning streak in West Central this week by beating Odessa, 35-25. The victory was the seventh in a row for the team.
St. Pius X moved up to 159 from 185 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Warriors climbed the ranks as a result of beating Richmond 35-13.
Grant Gavin put up the best numbers through the air as St. Pius X topped the Spartans. He finished with a total of 10 completions for 111 yards and three touchdowns. Gavin's favorite target this week was Marshall Mason, who caught four passes for 49 yards.
Chris Sidfrid provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Clinton lost to Pembroke Hill. He completed one pass for five yards and also ran for 144 yards. Sidfrid's favorite target this week was Joe Muehlberger, who caught three passes for 29 yards.
Nick Williams was the best wideout in the league this week as Center beat the Bulldogs. Williams tallied one reception for 56 yards. Anthony Eskridge helped Center's passing attack out by catching one ball for four yards.
Rick Byers' team's Gavin and Bennie Palmentere have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading West Central in both passing and receiving yards. Gavin has thrown for 1302 yards this season, while Palmentere, a 5-foot-7 receiver, has 33 catches for 380 yards. Sidfrid from the Cardinals leads the league in rushing with 1967 yards.
The Warriors led the league in scoring this week after putting up 35 points on Richmond. Gavin in the win.
