It was a good run, but The Donahue Catholic Shamrocks unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 43-0 loss at the hands of Shorecrest Prep. Having soared to a lofty 52 points in the game before, Donahue Catholic couldn't push the score so high this time.
John McCabe threw for 46 yards on two of ten attempts. On the ground, Leo Cantwell rushed for 63 yards.
Nickolas Bearden continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Shorecrest Prep, rushing for 90 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries, while also throwing for 154 yards and a touchdown. Bearden is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last five games he's played. Wes Ryan did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 115 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Donahue Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 7-1. As for Shorecrest Prep, their victory was their 12th straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 9-0.
Donahue Catholic will head out on the road to face off against Canterbury at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Shorecrest Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
