Softball Recap: Belfast Extends Winning Streak to Four

Belfast never let their opponents score on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Oceanside Mariners as they made off with a 6-0 win. Considering the Lions have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Jordyn MacKay was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Belfast let Katience Parenteau and Maggie Metcalf run wild. Parenteau went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs, while Metcalf went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases Parenteau has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Danica Gray, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Belfast, bringing their record up to 10-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Oceanside, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Looking ahead, Belfast will take on Nokomis at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Oceanside, they will venture away from home to square off against Lincoln Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
