Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Pinecrest Academy

While Pinecrest Academy didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-10), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past Cornerstone Prep Academy 12-2 on Friday. Fans of the Paladins have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

Dominic Kellner and Charles Dodson made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Kellner pitched two innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Meanwhile, Dodson pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Kellner has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Kellner scored three runs while going 3-for-3, while Dodson scored two runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Dodson also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Joseph Frain, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February of 2024. Anderson Proctor was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Pinecrest Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cornerstone Prep Academy only posted an OBP of .364.

The win keeps them at an undefeated 4-0. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Cornerstone Prep Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Coming up, Pinecrest Academy is taking a road trip to take on Johnson Ferry Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Pinecrest Academy's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season. As for Cornerstone Prep Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Praise Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
