The Alakanuk Braves lost against the Hooper Bay Warriors back in January of 2020, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Alakanuk was dealt a 107-36 loss at the hands of the Warriors. Alakanuk has not had much luck with the Warriors recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Hooper Bay was led to victory by Carson Long and Latrell Lake. Long scored 31 points, while Lake scored 32 points. Long hasn't dropped below 17 points for eight straight games. Another player making a difference was Mekhi Bell, who scored 12 points.
Alakanuk now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Hooper Bay, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-2.
Alakanuk does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Hooper Bay's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Comets at 9:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Chevak will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alaska Rankings (they are ranked 41st, while the Warriors are ranked fifth).
