The Galena Pirates waltzed into their contest Thursday with two straight wins but they left with three. They strolled past Stockton with points to spare, taking the game 54-37. Given Galena's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 294th, while Stockton is ranked 664th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Galena's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Connor Glasgow led the charge by scoring 17 points along with eight rebounds. That makes it 14 consecutive games in which Glasgow has scored at least 25% of Galena's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Myles Schumacher, who scored eight points along with five assists and four steals.
Galena's win bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Stockton, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.
Galena will be playing at home against Pearl City at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Pearl City and Galena are at an even 4-4 over their past eight head-to-heads. As for Stockton, they will head out on the road to face off against Durand at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Durand's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last eight matches.
