Alonso is 0-4 against Plant since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Alonso Ravens will head out on the road to face off against the Plant Panthers at 7:30 p.m. Alonso will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 287th, while Plant is ranked 107th).
Two weeks ago, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Alonso beat Strawberry Crest 34-30.
It was another big night for Joseph Glennon, who rushed for 101 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 258 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75.9% of his passes. Alonso also got a significant boost from Dontrell Issac, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 104 yards.
Meanwhile, Plant had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 39.7 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They blew past Steinbrenner 27-6. The result was nothing new for Plant, who have now won six games by 21 points or more so far this season.
Trey O'Malley and Waltez Clark were among the main playmakers for Plant as the former threw for 149 yards and two touchdowns on only ten passes and the latter gained 131 total yards and two touchdowns. Clark's longest reception was for an incredible 91 yards.
Alonso's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Plant, their win was their seventh straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-2.
Alonso was dealt a bruising 42-0 loss at the hands of Plant in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Thankfully for Alonso, Jaquez Kindell (who rushed for 148 yards and a touchdown) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
