Basketball Recap: Lenawee Christian Skates Past Erie-Mason with Ease

A well-balanced attack led Lenawee Christian over Erie-Mason in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Lenawee Christian Cougars blew the Erie-Mason Eagles out of the water with a 61-25 final score. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 115th, while the Eagles are ranked 430th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Lenawee Christian to victory were Aidan Kaulins and Jaxon Salenbien. Kaulins shot 6-for-10 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten boards, while Salenbien dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds. That's the most points Kaulins has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Scrupsky, who posted 13 points.

Lenawee Christian's win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.2 points per game. As for Erie-Mason, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Lenawee Christian Cougars duke it out with the Whiteford Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Erie-Mason, they will square off against Summerfield at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Summerfield's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
