Softball Recap: Perry Extends Winning Streak to Four

Perry waltzed into their contest on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They put the hurt on the Harvey Red Raiders with a sharp 17-1 win. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Morgan Winters made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Perry let Ella Bayless-Fahey and Arianna Rogers run wild. Bayless-Fahey got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Rogers went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those four runs gave Bayless-Fahey a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Haylee Reed, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

Perry was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .364 or higher in five consecutive games.

Perry's victory bumped their record up to 19-2. As for Harvey, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-6 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Perry will square off against Edgewood at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Pirates' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 9.1 runs per game this season. As for Harvey, they will be playing at home against Kirtland at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
