Lancaster hasn't had much luck against Dodgeville recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Flying Arrows will host the Dodgers at 5:00 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Lancaster took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Prairie du Chien, sneaking past 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Flying Arrows have posted against the Blackhawks since May 22, 2018.
Lancaster's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Emma Jensen, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Jensen also hit a double, marking her first of the season.
Meanwhile, Dodgeville waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Hillmen.
Ava Lord spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Rylee Forsyth, who scored a run while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Tia Crubaugh, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Dodgeville hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Platteville struck out seven times.
Dodgeville's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-3. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Lancaster, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.
Lancaster skirted past Dodgeville 5-4 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Flying Arrows repeat their success, or do the Dodgers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
