ARDMORE, Okla. - Special teams carried
Plainview (Ardmore, Okla.) to a 63-7 victory over Madill (Okla.) on Saturday as the return units contributed two touchdowns. The special teams of the Indians scored on a kick return and a punt return.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Austin Carrera in the first quarter, Plainview led 35-7 at the half.
PHS grew its lead to 49 points entering the fourth quarter. The Ardmore school scored three times in the third, including once on a kick return touchdown by Carrera.
Plainview's most effective player was
Taber Jordan. The senior quarterback threw two touchdowns.
Madill's lone touchdown came on a 69-yard run in the second quarter.
When the two teams played each other last season, Plainview came away with a 28-21 victory.
The defeat comes as a step back for Madill, who notched a 47-0 victory over Bethel in its previous outing. With the win PHS extended its winning streak to four games.
Plainview (4-0) goes up against Sulphur in a 3A District 4 game matchup next week, while Madill (2-2) locks horns with Purcell also in a 3A District 4 game.
