Basketball Recap: Union Snaps Six-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Union entered their match against Morgan on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Union Cougars fell 58-45 to the Morgan Trojans. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 74-61 back in January.

Despite the loss, Union still got an impressive performance from Wayke Olsen, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 boards. Olsen has been hot recently, having posted ten or more rebounds the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Brady Bell, who posted eight points and 13 boards.

Even though they lost, Union smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive contests.

Jake Hansen continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Morgan, dropping a double-double on 22 points and ten assists. The dominant performance gave Hansen a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Williams, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.

Union's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-8. As for Morgan, the victory (which was their 17th in a row) raised their record to 20-1.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Union Cougars duke it out with the Ogden Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Union is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.4 points per game this season. As for Morgan, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against South Summit at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Morgan has won seven straight at home, while South Summit won four straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
