The Southside Christian Patriots won the last time they faced the Victory Christian Academy Soldiers, and things went their way on Friday too. Southside Christian walked away with a 61-50 win over Victory Christian Academy. The win made it back-to-back wins for Southside Christian.
Leading Southside Christian to victory were Calob Strickland and Jon Jon Page. Strickland scored 19 points, while Page scored 21 points. That makes it two consecutive games in which Page has scored at least 25% of Southside Christian's points. The team also got some help courtesy of LJ Boyd, who scored 11 points.
Nelson Palacios and Matthew Sutherin certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Palacios scored 11 points along with 5 assists and 3 steals, while Sutherin dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds. The game was Sutherin's third in a row with at least ten points. Christian Sutton was another key contributor, scoring 7 points along with 7 rebounds and 4 steals.
The win got Southside Christian back to even at 3-3. As for Victory Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 2-1.
Southside Christian will be playing in front of their home fans against Faith Baptist Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Faith Baptist Christian Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully Southside Christian likes a good challenge. Victory Christian Academy will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Crossroads Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on December 5th.
