Even though the Bishop Seabury Academy Seahawks scored an imposing 60 points on Thursday, the Bishop Ward Cyclones still came out on top. Bishop Ward had just enough and edged Bishop Seabury Academy out 62-60. The win was all the more spectacular given Bishop Ward's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 284th, while Bishop Seabury Academy is ranked 44th).
When it comes to explaining why Bishop Seabury Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Chase Honarvar. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds. Honarvar is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Jace Smith was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds.
The win makes it two in a row for Bishop Ward and bumps their season record up to 2-5. As for Bishop Seabury Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 5-1.
Bishop Ward will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Kauffman at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th. As for Bishop Seabury Academy, they will take on Augusta at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
