After losing to the Hartington-Newcastle Wildcats the last time they met, the Ponca Indians decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Ponca snuck past the Wildcats with a 41-35 victory on Friday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Ponca.
Ponca's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Emerson Ehlers led the charge by dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. Ehlers hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. Lily Korth was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Ponca's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-9. As for Hartington-Newcastle, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ponca will take on the Huskies at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Elk Point-Jefferson's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three contests.
