D2 District 6 (8 Man) recap Sept. 26, 2012
Shelton extended the longest winning streak in D2 District 6 (8 Man) this week by beating Axtell, 64-12. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
Amherst was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to second in the league. Earlier in the week, the Broncos defeated Wilcox-Hildreth 52-24.
Kenesaw's dynamic duo of Tyler Schnitzler and Wyatt Woodman proved tough for Lawrence-Nelson to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Schnitzler threw for 108 yards and two touchdowns and Woodman had 87 yards receiving. Preston Schnitzler helped Kenesaw's passing attack out by catching four balls for 66 yards.
Luke Glenn was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 18 carries, he ran for 309 yards as Shelton beat the Raiders. Clayton Stoppkotte also contributed to the rushing game with 82 yards on the ground.
Michael Duffy made the biggest impact on defense this week as Kenesaw bested Lawrence-Nelson. The junior recorded one fumble.
The Wildcats' Lance Taylor and Jacob Jelden have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading D2 District 6 (8 Man) in both passing and receiving yards. Taylor has thrown for 337 yards this season, while Jelden, a 5-foot-8 receiver, has seven catches for 218 yards. Mike Lowe's team's Glenn leads the league in rushing yards with 788.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Amherst takes on the Bulldogs. Ron Evans's team has allowed 81 points this season, while Shelton has given up 76.
