The Olathe Pirates pushed their score all the way to 65 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They lost to Cedaredge at home by a decisive 80-65 margin. Olathe has struggled against Cedaredge recently, as their contest on Saturday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Isaiah Gordon and Miguel Vargas certainly did their best on Saturday to try and avoid the loss. Gordon scored 29 points, while Vargas scored 24 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Vargas has scored all season. Garret Millsap was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cedaredge to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jacob Bowler, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Bowler pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Maxey, who scored 24 points along with five assists and two steals.
Olathe's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Cedaredge, their victory bumped their record up to 3-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Olathe will take on Roaring Fork at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Roaring Fork focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Tuesday. As for Cedaredge, they will be playing at home against Grand Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Grand Valley is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
