Stratford has gone a perfect 10-0 against Cypress Ridge recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Spartans will venture away from home to challenge the Rams at 6:00 p.m. Stratford is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.
Stratford had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Cypress Falls on Friday. The Spartans were the clear victors by a 10-4 margin over the Eagles. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won nine matches by six runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Layla Yslas, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Elizabeth McGuire was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.
Meanwhile, Cypress Ridge hadn't done well against Jersey Village recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Rams walked away with a 7-2 win over the Falcons. The victory was nothing new for the Rams as they're now sitting on three straight.
Ariel Arambula made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Arambula was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last three games she's played.
In other batting news, Christiana Palacios was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Londyn Collins also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.
Stratford's record now sits at 15-5. As for Cypress Ridge, their record is now 7-13.
Everything went Stratford's way against Cypress Ridge in their previous matchup back in March, as Stratford made off with a 15-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
