The Tabb Tigers will head out on the road to square off against the Grafton Clippers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Tabb has struggled recently with five losses in a row, while Grafton will arrive with three straight wins.
Tabb suffered their biggest loss since December 6, 2023 on Friday. They were the victim of a rough 72-46 loss at the hands of New Kent. While losing is never fun, Tabb can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 325th, while New Kent is ranked 67th).
Despite their loss, Tabb saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Torrion Haywood, who scored 16 points, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Micah Marbra, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Grafton ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They pulled ahead with a 61-60 photo finish over Bruton. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Tabb's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Grafton, their victory bumped their record up to 12-2.
Tabb lost to Grafton on the road by a decisive 65-47 margin in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can Tabb avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
