The Central Catholic Rams will head out on the road to challenge Nelson at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Central Catholic is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
On Monday, Central Catholic didn't have quite enough to beat Sandy and fell 5-4.
Lei Lei Turley made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Ella Schellinkhout also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, while Nelson put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Reynolds. Nelson was the clear victor by a 19-0 margin over Reynolds. Considering Nelson has won five matchups by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Kumi Hosaka made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Hosaka was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Nelson got a massive performance out of Alyvia Pietsch, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Alina Chun, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI, two runs, and one double.
Nelson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .686. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March.
Nelson has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.8 runs over those games. As for Central Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 4-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Central Catholic has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Nelson struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Central Catholic beat Nelson 8-4 in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do Nelson have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
