Stanton is 0-10 against Clarkson/Leigh since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Stanton Mustangs' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Clarkson/Leigh Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on February 8th. Clarkson/Leigh took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Stanton, who comes in off a win.
A well-balanced attack led Stanton over Winside in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Stanton blew Winside out of the water with a 49-14 final score. With Stanton ahead 29-7 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Stanton's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Rebecca Stoddard, who scored 14 points along with two steals, and Olivia Hupp, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Skyler Siebrandt was another key contributor, scoring six points along with two blocks.
Meanwhile, Clarkson/Leigh was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 31-25 to Pierce. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Clarkson/Leigh has scored all season.
Stanton is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. As for Clarkson/Leigh, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-6.
Stanton was taken down by Clarkson/Leigh 76-36 in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Can Stanton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
