It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Dobie Longhorns can now relate to. They were dealt a 65-28 defeat at the hands of Atascocita on Friday. Dobie's loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.
Several Longhorns players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Damarcus Hodges, who rushed for 159 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries. Hodges really tore up the turf during one magnificent 83-yard run. The team also got some help courtesy of Juan Huerta, who rushed for 30 yards and a touchdown.
Dobie's defeat dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Atascocita, their win bumped their record up to 9-2.
Dobie does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Atascocita will head out on the road to face off against Pearland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pearland will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 51st, while Atascocita is ranked eighth).
