Service (Anchorage, Alaska) came into Saturday's contest ranked No. 1 in Alaska, but was stunned by
South (Anchorage, Alaska), 28-19. South was ranked at No. 2 in the MaxPreps Freeman Rankings for Alaska coming into the week.
After taking the lead on a
Tommy Hopp touchdown run, the Cougars went into halftime with a 19-14 lead. The Wolverines took the lead for good with a
Dante Williams touchdown run in the third quarter.
Viliamu Aukusitino made a difference for Service. The senior quarterback threw one touchdown and ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored 19 touchdowns on the season.
South's standout player in the win was
Sharif Taha. The senior ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored three touchdowns on the season.
The Wolverines got revenge for last year's 37-23 loss to the Cougars with the victory.
The loss comes after Service defeated West 49-34 last week.
