Rector made up a huge gap compared to their last game against East Poinsett County, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Cougars fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 49-46 on Tuesday. The Cougars' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Despite the loss, Rector still got an impressive performance from Rylee Wilburn, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and 15 boards. That was a full 37% of the Cougars' points, marking the fourth time in a row Wilburn has posted more than a third of the team's points. Anniston Scott also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steal of the season.

East Poinsett County found their leader in sophomore Cambria Williams, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Williams is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Kelly Ashcraft, who had seven points and six boards.

Rector's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-2. As for East Poinsett County, the win keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
