West Point has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Jasper Vikings at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. One thing working in West Point's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matchups.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but West Point had no problem doing just that on Friday. They walked away with a 59-47 victory over the Dragons.
Meanwhile, Jasper waltzed into their game on Friday with 17 straight wins but they left with 18. Everything went their way against East Limestone as Jasper made off with a 67-41 win. Jasper has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 16 matchups by 23 points or more this season.
Jasper got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Mia Hollingsworth out in front who scored 19 points along with six assists and five rebounds. Hollingsworth has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 15 times she's played. Missy Odom was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with four steals.
West Point is on a roll lately: they've won 18 of their last 20 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 24-5 record this season. As for Jasper, they pushed their record up to 27-4 with that victory, which was their 12th straight at home.
Everything came up roses for West Point against Jasper in their previous matchup back in December of 2019 as the team secured a 72-44 victory. Will West Point repeat their success, or does Jasper have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
