Drew extended the longest winning streak in AAAAA Region 4A this week by beating Forest Park, 54-7. The victory was the fourth in a row for Drew.
Drew's dynamic duo of Jay Murray and Kwamie Jackson proved tough for the Panthers to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Murray threw for 195 yards and three touchdowns and Jackson had 90 yards receiving. Jordan Metts helped Drew's passing attack out by catching one ball for 60 yards.
Rodney Smith was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 23 carries, he ran for 274 yards as Mundy's Mill beat Forest Park. Teammate Josh Hill added to the ground attack by rushing for 51 yards.
6-foot-2 quarterback Murray of Drew is the league leader in passing yards this season with 532. He has also thrown five touchdowns. On the ground, the Tigers' Smith has rushed for 770 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Caleb Ham. The Union Grove star has 10 catches for 182 yards.
A big matchup in AAAAA Region 4A this week will be when Mundy's Mill takes on Drew. As it stands, the Tigers are in fourth, while Drew is in second.
There should be lots of points scored when Mundy's Mill and Drew face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Tigers comes in having scored 86 this season, while Drew has scored 152. Mundy's Mill scored 31 points last week as it bested Mt. Zion.
The Tigers made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,484 from 7,198. The improvement came about via a 31-12 victory over the Bulldogs last week.
