The West Milford Highlanders and the Lakeland Regional Lancers will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 1st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. West Milford will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
Even though West Milford has not done well against the Hornets recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. West Milford snuck past the Hornets with a 61-57 victory. 61 seems to be a good number for West Milford as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Meanwhile, Lakeland Regional struggled with assists on Tuesday (the Indians had 16 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Lakeland Regional was dealt a 73-31 loss at the hands of the Indians. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Lakeland Regional has scored all season.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Matt Vanderweele, who scored five points. The team also got some help courtesy of Joe Zonis, who scored four points.
West Milford has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-10 record this season. As for Lakeland Regional, their loss dropped their record down to 4-12.
West Milford beat the Lancers 60-50 in their previous matchup back in January. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Lakeland Regional's Noah Pagan, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will West Milford still be able to contain Pagan? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
