III Section III recap December 3, 2013
Saguaro extended the longest winning streak in III Section III this week by beating Queen Creek, 47-25. The win marks 13th in a row for the the Sabercats.
Saguaro took down the Bulldogs 47-25 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Queen Creek's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Weston Barlow contributed 183 yards.
Barlow was a passing and rushing force as Joe Germaine's team lost to Jason Mohns' team. Barlow's favorite target this week was Mike Kemmerer, who caught 4 passes for 64 yards.
Barlow was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 183 yards on 21 carries as the Bulldogs fell to the Sabercats. Matt Guida also contributed to the rushing game with 50 yards on the ground.
Saguaro's Luke Rubenzer and J.T. Nettleton have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-0 quarterback Rubenzer has thrown for 3,955 yards this season, while Nettleton has 55 catches for 1,485 yards. Queen Creek's Barlow leads the league in rushing yards with 2,232.
In 122 carries Dominic Orona has accumulated 949 yard this year.
So far this year, he has garnered 40 catches for 950 yards.
The Sabercats made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 95 from 286. The improvement was the result of a 47-25 victory over the Bulldogs last week.
