Softball Recap: Solon Wins Going Away Against Stow-Munroe Falls

Solon barely beat Stow-Munroe Falls the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Comets were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Bulldogs on Wednesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Comets also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Kassidy Samuelraj spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, Grace Gerhard was a standout: she scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Alyssa Gerome also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Gerhard wasn't the only one making solid contact: Solon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The Comets are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Solon's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-6. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Stow-Munroe Falls, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.

Coming up, Solon will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Nordonia at 5:00 p.m. The Comets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season. As for Stow-Munroe Falls, they are taking a road trip to challenge North Royalton at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bears' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
